Tell us a bit about yourself.
I was born in the beautiful Florence, Italy. Since an early age, I was an adventurer and I wanted to explore the world. My parents allowed me to travel to the UK alone for the first time when I was only 11 years old. I spent the summer holidays in Sunderland, a small city in the north of England. It was love at first sight, and from that moment I decided that I wanted to live in the UK. As a stubborn and determined person, I was able to pursue my dream and, with my family's support, I completed my master’s degree in Human Nutrition at Manchester Metropolitan University.
Why did you choose nutrition as a career path?
My grandad was a food chemist who has passed on his passion for healthy eating. While cooking, he would always explain the nutritional properties of the typical ingredients used in the Mediterranean diet such as olive oil, wine, fish, fruit, and vegetables. He also taught me how to make pesto with the fresh basil harvested from the garden and the pine nuts just fallen from the pine trees. I remember how exciting it was to collect the pine nuts from the ground and peel them for my grandad. This is one of the reasons Spaghetti with pesto is one of my favourite dishes!
What excites you about Love Yourself?
By growing up and studying nutrition, I realised how important it is to have a balanced and varied diet and I started researching the health benefits of different diets (e.g., keto, paleo, low carb). I believe that diets work differently based on the genes and the metabolism of each individual. What works for me, may not work for you. Love Yourself’s approach to tackling the health issues and promoting self-love is something that struck a chord with me, and I passionately believe everyone deserves to live a healthy happy life.
I am keen on food trends and innovations and excited to bring my creativity to the kitchen with Michal. Although Italians are known to be conservative and traditional with their food, I love to explore the combination of novel ingredients and create unique recipes.
When you’re not cooking, what are you doing?
My number one hobby is dancing. When I dance, I can fully express myself and my emotions. I have competed for hip hop and street dance (even wining a few hip hop battles). In the winter I love to ski, you’ll find me on the slopes most days even if it’s -20 degrees and I can see my breath dissolving in the frozen air.
