We find ourselves in yet another lockdown but hopefully this will be the last. Working from home has blurred the lines between work and play and it can be hard to distinguish between the two. The evenings have become a sacred time for me to unwind and relax at the end of the day. After all, self-care is a form of self-love. Through this article I hope to give you some of my best tips so you can kick your feet up, feel at peace and be reenergized for the next day!
Lockdown is the perfect time to figure out your skin care routine. It is a common misconception that skin care is only for the ladies but for any of our male readers this is your sign to jump on skin care. It can be simple as investing in a face wash and moisturiser and cleansing your face every morning and every night. If you are looking for something a bit more luxurious invest in a jade roller. Jade rolling originates from China and some of the benefits include; blood circulation, lymphatic drainage, reducing puffy eyes and minimizing fine lines.
Invest In Yourself
You are probably wondering how to invest in yourself? Well, the answer is very simple. Lockdown is the perfect time to reignite your old hobbies or even find the time to explore new hobbies. Having a hobby that you enjoy in your free-time is a great way to destress and turn off. Carving out time for yourself is so important and whilst you do this you are also learning a new skill. I am no artist but this lockdown I would like to work on my creativity and just have fun creating art.
A Relaxing Bath
Light some candles and hop into a hot bath. If you feel like having some fun throw in a bath bomb or if you feel like detoxifying and promoting healing throw in some Epsom salts. There are an endless amount of benefits of taking a bath of which some include; improving heart health, aiding breathe control, calming the nervous system and reducing pain and inflammation.
Nothing says unwinding like cosying up with a warm cup of tea. Savour your tea and savour this time. Put away your phone and take the time to mentally unwind. Put your work on pause and think about the ways you can enjoy your evening with your house mates or even if you would like to be alone for some much needed ‘me time’. If you struggle to fall asleep here are some bedtime teas that will give you the little push you need for your eyes to close. Some of these include; camomile, lavender, green, lemon balm etc.
Nurture Your Mind, Body and Soul
To nurture your mind: read.
To nurture your body: exercise.
To nurture your soul: meditate.
We understand that being in lockdown can have a negative impact on our mental well-being which is why it is especially important now more than ever to start doing little things that bring us joy and a sense of peace. We hope you find these useful and they make your lockdown experience a little bit more enjoyable!
