First things first, what does it mean to be sustainable? Sustainability means meeting our own needs without compromising the needs of future generations. There are three pillars of sustainability which are the environment, economy and society.
Environmental sustainability is about consuming natural resources at a rate where they can replenish themselves. Economic sustainability is about ensuring every person has access to the resources that they need to meet their needs. Social sustainability looks at fostering healthy communities where there is no discrimination and human rights are being met.
At Love Yourself, we pride ourselves on aiming to be as sustainable as possible and keeping our carbon footprint low, and constantly working with our partners and suppliers to reduce where we can. You may have noticed a few snazzy electric vans and scooters, and the old faithful peddle bikes making your deliveries, to help us achieve our sustainability goals.
By partnering with XeroE for sustainable, emission free deliveries; we've managed to save the equivalent green-house gasses of:
- 7 home(s) electricity use for one year
- 693,000 mobile phones charged
- 641 gallons of petrol
- 7 acres of forest
- 2,857kg of coal burned
- 9 tons of waste recycled instead of landfilled
CO2 emissions have a disastrous impact on the world we live in as they increase the greenhouse effect. CO2 creates an invisible layer around the earth and this thermal energy gets trapped by the atmosphere, hence causing the planet to become warmer than it should be. This increase in the Earth’s temperature is called global warming. In Quarter 1 of 2021, Love Yourself was able to save 2,422 kg of CO2!
NOx gases are usually produced during the combustion of fuels at high temperatures, such as in car engines. The nitrogen oxides emitted contribute to a significant amount of air pollution. In Quarter 1 of 2021, Love Yourself was able to save 11,393 g of NOx!
We understand that sustainability is an on-going process that can always be improved upon, and we are committed to working towards this goal. If you have any suggestions of would like to know more, reach out to hello@loveyourself.co.uk or @loveyourselfhq on social media
