This year it is safe to say we have experienced a rollercoaster of emotions. From adjusting to working from home to constantly checking if you remembered your face mask, it has been a year of great change. We want you to realise the importance of letting go of negativity in your life and stepping into 2021 with your best foot forward. In order to do this, you will need to reflect and unwind to avoid burn-out and exhaustion.

This Christmas it is time to switch off. Let me prove it to you with this simple exercise. Let go of all the tension in your face, shoulders and unclench your jaw. Did you just feel a massive drop in your body? Our bodies hold onto so much tension it can become our default setting to be so tight. Everything you feel your body feels tenfold. Get a Massage 

Studies have shown that we experience emotions in different parts of our bodies. The most common areas of our bodies that hold onto stress are in the neck, shoulders, hips, hands and feet. Massages have been scientifically proven to reduce stress. They have an endless amount of benefits such as improved flexibility in your muscles, reduced pain, can boost focus and improve sleep. 

You don’t need to get a professional massage. Ask your partner to massage your back or shoulders or you can even do it yourself. There are several self-massaging guides out there so find what works for you and your body. Another way to reduce the tension in your body is by stretching daily. Stretching can improve your posture, reduce back pain and increase your range of motion.

Me Time

Working from home can sometimes feel like everyone in your flat or house is piling on top of you. The smallest things might set you off which can be easily avoided with some time to yourself. Lock yourself in your room and stick on your favourite TV show and binge it until you are feeling social again. Alternatively, go for a walk and grab your favourite coffee.

‘Me Time’ could also be the perfect opportunity to reflect on the past year. Get into journaling this Christmas holiday. Here are some self-reflection journaling prompts:
